About

What is the purpose of Looking for Lucy?

This website was created by me, Sharon A. Greene. My mom gave me the idea to start a blog to document my health problems. She thought that my problems would help others who are going through similar experiences. As I started to develop this website the idea grew. I wanted to include not just health but much much more. At any given moment we are all looking for something. It can be love, money, sex, children, a spouse, friends, health, misplaced items, a house, a pet and the list goes on. This is why I decided to develop a website for those of us who are looking. My everyday life with all my learning experiences, health problems, memories, struggles, triumphs, laughter, tears and so on will be revealed on this website. Hopefully from my life and thoughts, others will find solutions to what they are looking for in their own life.

Why is this website called Looking for Lucy? Who is Lucy? Your name is Sharon Greene.

Lucy was my grandmother and I decided to dedicate this website to her. When I was nine years old she passed away. Whenever someone passes away we say we lost that person. In the literal sense I did not “lose” my grandmother she passed away. I do not know how to explain it but a part of me is still looking for her. This website is also about looking for myself, even though I did not call this website Looking for Sharon. When we are looking for something, that something is a small part of our identity. When we find the things we are looking for we find a part of ourselves.

Who is Sharon A. Greene?

I am 31 years old and I live in a small city that is next to a medium size city in Virginia. I live with my best friend Chrissy in an 800 square foot house with three cats.  My oldest one Bunny is a pastel tortie.  The only male in the house is Jeb and he is a big boy.  A lot of people have called him polka dotted because he is all white with big black spots.  The youngest and tiniest is Dundee she is also a pastel tortie.  She is the one who rules the house.  I know everyone thinks we are the crazy cat ladies. Which, I admit I am a crazy cat lady. There will be more pictures and blogs about my cats than any other topic. I should have just called this website Looking for Cats.  It really does not seem like there are two people and three cats in an 800 square foot house. Maybe I should mention that Chrissy and myself have severe obsessive compulsive disorder. So, the house is always clean and in order. Well as much as an 800 square foot house with only two closets can get.

Anyway this section is supposed to be about myself and this website not my tiny house. I am extremely independent, stubborn, hard headed and I like to do things without any help. I can find something funny in almost every situation. This has gotten me into trouble at times. I usually have a positive outlook on life, which can sometimes border on unrealistic. I usually do believe that everything works out for the best.

I know I mentioned a lot about my personality. Usually in the about section a person puts all of their accomplishments and information about their family or jobs and blah blah blah. Well, unlike so much of society I do not define a person by their job, marital status, and whether or not they have kids, a dog and a white picket fence. I define someone by who they are as a person. Someone could have all those things and still be a “jack ass.”

Okay I lied I decided to brag on myself a little after all. I have a Bachelor of Science in Health Promotions and a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling with a Specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy. Which is funny considering I am not married (nor do I want to be) and I do not have kids (nor do I want kids). No there is nothing wrong with me. I do not look like an ogre. Anyway, I got my degrees from Liberty University. Which really taught me a lot about organized religion. It made me realize that I do not want to be a part of organized religion. I like that I am open-minded and nonjudgmental. After all wasn’t Jesus nonjudgmental. I do have a relationship with God a rather close one actually. A person does not have to be a part of organized religion to be a Christian.

Anyway, since I love learning and solving problems I thought the best way to use my abilities is to develop this website. I must have time on my hands, since I’m not married and I don’t have kids, right? Well, I do have time on my hands. Although, not for obvious reasons. I am actually a terrible insomniac. I may not be the most interesting person, but my life is never boring. There is always something happening.

Okay enough of my babbling in the about section. I just have one last thing to say. What are you looking for?
